Can Cats Eat Napa Cabbage? Tiny Plain Bite Only
Tiny plain bite only
A healthy cat can have one tiny plain napa cabbage bite, but cats do not need it.
Napa CabbageAsk your vet
Call your veterinarian if symptoms are repeated or severe, or if napa cabbage came with garlic, onion, chili, or heavy salt.
Kimchi is not the same question
Fermented, salty, spicy, garlicky cabbage is not a cat-safe format.
Small because fiber adds up
A little soft cabbage is different from a pile of leaves in a cat with a small digestive system.
How to offer it
- Wash the leaf, use the tender part, and chop one tiny piece. Light cooking can make it easier to chew.
- Serve without salt, oil, soy sauce, garlic, onion, chili, vinegar, or dressing.
Avoid
- Kimchi, pickled cabbage, stir-fry, soup, sauces, garlic, onion, chili paste, salted leftovers, tough stems, and large portions.
- Napa cabbage for cats with digestive disease, thyroid disease, prescription diets, or a history of gas and vomiting unless your veterinarian approves it.
Watch
- Vomiting, diarrhea, gas, belly discomfort, drooling, gagging, refusing food, or repeated litter box changes.
Portion
One tiny chopped soft piece is enough. Stop if cabbage causes gas or stool changes.
