Call for onion or garlic

Call your veterinarian if the zucchini tasted bitter, included onion or garlic, or if choking, repeated vomiting, diarrhea, or pain occurs.

Bitter squash is different

Do not feed bitter zucchini or squash to cats.

Cooked is easier

Soft cooked zucchini is easier to chew than firm chunks.

Offer it plain

  • Cook until soft and offer one tiny plain piece.
  • Use no butter, oil, salt, pepper, onion, garlic, sauce, cheese, or seasoning.

Avoid bitter or seasoned zucchini

  • Bitter zucchini, raw hard chunks, seasoned zucchini, fried zucchini, zucchini bread, oil, butter, onion, garlic, and large portions.
  • Zucchini for cats with digestive sensitivity, kidney disease, urinary diets, or prescription diets unless your veterinarian approves.

Watch

  • Vomiting, diarrhea, gas, choking, appetite changes, or belly discomfort.

Portion

One tiny soft piece is enough.
