Plant safety

Is This Plant Safe for Cats?

Search a plant before it comes home. If your cat already chewed a risky plant, call your vet or poison control.

Search cat plant safety

Type a common houseplant name. The lookup flags toxic plants and safer choices, but exact plant ID still matters.

Common names can be confusing. If your cat chewed an unknown plant, call your veterinarian or pet poison control with a photo and plant name if you have it.

Safer does not mean snack

A non-toxic plant can still cause vomiting or diarrhea if a cat eats a lot of it, and soil, fertilizers, stakes, or decorative moss can add separate risks.

Lilies deserve special caution

If a cat may have contacted lily pollen, leaves, petals, stems, or vase water, treat it as urgent and call a veterinarian or poison-control service immediately.
