Bird Food Safety Checker

Check foods, plants, fumes, household products, and other exposures before they reach your bird.

Cockatiel beside pellets, leafy greens, chopped vegetables, a tiny fruit portion, clean water, and food notes.

Search a food or hazard

Search the plain item name first: avocado, millet spray, apple, chocolate, onion, smoke, or nonstick fumes. If exposure already happened, call an avian veterinarian or animal poison hotline while you collect the label and timing.

This checker is a care-planning guide, not emergency treatment. If a bird is weak, not breathing normally, bleeding, or exposed to toxins or fumes, call for avian-vet help.

If exposure already happened

Remove the food, object, product, or exposure source only if it is safe to do so. Save the name or packaging, note the time, amount if relevant, or exposure duration, and call an avian veterinarian or animal poison hotline for toxic, fume, chemical, medicine, bait, or unknown exposures.
